Partnership Between Insurer, Hospital, and Startup for the Implementation of a Bundle in Thyroid Cancer Care: A Health Innovation Experience
Introdução
The implementation of value-based payment models, such as the bundle, has gained prominence as an efficient alternative to optimize costs and improve clinical outcomes in oncology treatments. However, the development and execution of such projects require close collaboration among different stakeholders, including insurers, healthcare providers, and health technology startups.
Objetivo
To report the experience of an innovative partnership between Seguros Unimed, Hospital AC Camargo, and the startup Hi! in building a bundle model for thyroid cancer care, aimed at improving care quality, optimizing costs, and enhancing clinical outcomes for patients.
Métodos
The project involved the development of a data collection tool, based on the identification of PROMs and PREMs from a systematic literature review. This questionnaire was then validated by a patient committee to identify which variables hold the most value for this population. A digital platform was also created for outcome collection and cost-effectiveness analysis. The startup was responsible for the technological implementation, using data analytics and machine learning tools to identify areas for optimization. The insurer provided financial and claims data, while the hospital contributed detailed clinical information and patient access.
Resultados
The partnership resulted in the creation of a robust bundle model, enabling precise analysis of the direct and indirect costs of thyroid cancer treatment. The integration of financial, operational, and clinical data allowed for the identification of inefficiencies and the proposal of strategies to reduce waste, in addition to improving patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Conclusões
This project demonstrated the feasibility and benefits of a collaborative approach between an insurer, hospital, and startup for the implementation of a bundle model in oncology. The experience highlights the importance of data interoperability and technological innovation in building solutions that benefit both the healthcare system and patients.
